Virtual & Online Therapy Across Six States

Therapy that fits a real schedule, from wherever you are.

I offer secure video sessions to clients across six jurisdictions. The individual therapy work is the same work I do in my Center City office — same depth, same approach, same 50 minutes. What changes is that you don't lose 45 minutes to travel, and you're not constrained to therapists within driving distance of your home or office.

Where I'm licensed

I'm licensed to provide therapy in the following jurisdictions. Where you are physically located during the session determines which license applies — not where you live or work on paper.

If you're outside these jurisdictions, I'm not able to work with you, but I'm glad to help point you somewhere useful.

States where Matt Sosnowsky is licensed to provide therapy: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Washington State

How sessions work

The platform. Sessions run on VSee, a HIPAA-compliant secure video service. No account or software purchase required on your end — you'll get a link.

The format. A 60-minute intake to start, then 50-minute sessions weekly or biweekly.

What you need. A reliable connection, headphones, and a space where you can speak freely for an hour. That last one matters more than people expect. A parked car, a spare room, or a booked conference room all work better than a shared apartment with someone in the next room.

Scheduling. Daytime, evening, and Saturday hours. Limited availability.

Is virtual the right choice?

For most people, most of the time — yes. The research on tele-therapy for anxiety, depression, and related concerns is strong, and the practical advantages are real: you can fit a session into a lunch hour, keep continuity when you travel, and work with someone whose approach fits rather than whoever happens to be near you.

Virtual tends to work particularly well if you:

  • Have a schedule that makes a commute genuinely difficult

  • Travel frequently for work

  • Live outside Philadelphia but within a state where I'm licensed

  • Want continuity through a move or a stretch of instability

It tends to work less well if you:

  • Don't have consistent access to private space

  • Find you avoid difficult material more easily on screen

  • Specifically want the ritual and separation of leaving to go somewhere

If you're in Philadelphia and unsure, we can start virtual and move to in-person sessions — or alternate. Plenty of clients do.

Who I work with

High-functioning adults, largely in their mid-twenties through forties. Lawyers, physicians, consultants, engineers, founders, finance professionals, academics. Many are men coming to therapy for the first time.

The recurring themes are career dissatisfaction and identity, relationships that aren't working the way you want, and an undercurrent of anxiety running beneath both.

I'm a licensed clinical social worker with 15+ years of experience, and my work has been featured in the New York Times, Vox and Forbes, among others. You can read more about my background and how I work on my founder page.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

"Working with Matt was my best experience with a therapist, of which I've had several. I felt like my plan was personal to me, and I was getting the most out of our time together."

— Former Client

Getting started is simple

Most people begin with a free 30-minute video consultation. It's an informal conversation — what's going on, what you're hoping for, and whether we're a good fit. No pressure.

If we move forward, the first session is a 60-minute intake, in the office or on video. After that we typically meet for 50-minute sessions weekly or every other week.
